Senior Championships
from Eq. Coach Michael D. Cintas
A day of struggle for Margaux from the very beginning started with 4 fencing losses all in a row then a slight win then more losses and then a win and then half way through, she got her rythmn back and started a streak of for victories and then losses again at the very end (my lucky #). She hit 13 total bouts to win a score of 808 and actually beat the best in the world in pent fencing and came thru with a sufficient score.
Her swim was 2:19 and change she was hoping to better but good enough to keep her in the game.
Margaux' shoot was ok the first being 38 seconds with 4 misses
the next we 39 seconds with 5 misses the next was only hitting 3 targets and running out of time'but she ran like heck and came in 17th made the cut and made the finals
Margaux competes Sept 4th in the women's finals, Will and Margaux will do the mix relay September 5th and the men will do the men's relay on Sept 6th.
No US men made it to the Senior Championships final, we traveled at a late date to China and with the men competing on the first day they probably needed more time to recoup from very long and arduous trip to be at their best.
Last night in Chengdu, China at the official Technical Meeting of the 2010 Senior World Championships, Pentathlon US Equestrian Coach and World Cup Riding Director Michael D. Cintas greeted the international pentathlon delegations and invited them to 2011 US World Cup in Rancho Mirage, February 21-28. Director Cintas "Thanked the UIPM for this honor and assured everyone that USA Pentathlon NGB and LOC will give the pentathlon community the very best world cup." Michael also thanked Agua Caliente Spa Casino for being our host hotel and partner in this great event for Rancho Mirage, California, the heart of the Palm Springs valley
The jury ride was yesterday and Michael reports that "The horses are all thoroughbreds and all ex-race horses. With 43 shown to us 25 will do. There are 84 male athletes and 57 women competitors.
The Modern Pentathlon copmplex is a brand new 102 million incredible "all in one" media max complex. Indoor swimming and fencing with beautiful indoor stables only the shooting range could be better, but great campus on 150 acres. Next year they will have world cup 5 here I beleive. Today is our mens day all men are ready all in good spirits."
